1 pound elbow macaroni, cooked
1 pound ground beef
½ cup BBQ sauce
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup heavy cream
¼ cup breadcrumbs
Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook the beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess grease and stir in BBQ sauce. Simmer for 2 minutes.
Mix the casserole ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, BBQ beef mixture, and shredded cheddar cheese. Add heavy cream and mix well.
Transfer to baking dish: Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and spread the mixture evenly.
Top and bake: Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Then, uncover and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Serve: Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
For a creamier texture, add mozzarella cheese.
You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or add sautéed veggies like onions or bell peppers for extra flavor.
This casserole can be made ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking.
