Ground Beef and Chopped Cabbage is a hearty and satisfying dish that's perfect for a busy weeknight dinner. It combines savory ground beef with tender cabbage, making a flavorful, comforting meal with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

1 medium head of cabbage, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/2 cup beef broth (or water)

1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon until it’s browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pan. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion softens and becomes translucent.
  4. Add the chopped cabbage, paprika, salt, pepper, and thyme (if using). Stir everything together to combine.
  5. Pour in the beef broth (or water) and soy sauce, then cover the pan. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary, adding more salt or pepper if desired.
  7. Serve hot, and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.
  • Substitute ground turkey, chicken, or pork for a lighter version of the dish.
  • To make it low-carb, serve over cauliflower rice instead of regular rice.
  • Feel free to add extra vegetables like carrots, bell peppers, or zucchini for added nutrition and color.
  • If you want to add cheese, top the dish with shredded cheese before serving.
