Yogurt Marinated Chicken is a flavorful and juicy dish where chicken is marinated in a rich blend of yogurt and spices, resulting in a tender and aromatic meal. Perfect for grilling or baking, this dish is sure to please anyone at your dinner table.

Ingredients

2 chicken breasts (or thighs)

1 cup plain yogurt (Greek or regular)

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 teaspoons garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon ground paprika

½ teaspoon ground turmeric

½ teaspoon ground coriander

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh lemon juice (optional, for extra zing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade: In a medium bowl, combine the yogurt, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, paprika, turmeric, coriander, salt, and pepper. If you like a tangy touch, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to the mixture.
  2. Marinate the chicken: Place the chicken breasts (or thighs) in the bowl with the marinade, ensuring the chicken is fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to let the flavors infuse.
  3. Cook the chicken: After marinating, remove the chicken from the fridge. Heat a grill, grill pan, or oven (375°F/190°C) to medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for 6-7 minutes per side (or 20-25 minutes in the oven), until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the chicken is no longer pink in the middle.
  4. Serve: Once cooked, remove the chicken from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice and serve with your favorite sides like rice, vegetables, or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • This recipe works well with both chicken breasts and thighs, with thighs offering more flavor and juiciness.
  • Marinating overnight will yield the best results for flavor.
  • Grilling adds a smoky flavor, but you can also bake or cook the chicken in a skillet.
  • If you want a spicier version, consider adding cayenne pepper or red chili flakes.
  • For dairy-free options, use coconut yogurt or buttermilk instead of plain yogurt.
