Salt

Black pepper

Garlic

Ketchup

Worcestershire sauce

Steak sauce

Egg

Panko breadcrumbs

Yellow or white onion

White button mushrooms

Chicken broth

Butter

Flour

Oil (canola oil recommended for frying)

Instructions

  • Prepare the ingredients: Slice the onions and mushrooms. In a large bowl, mix the ground turkey with salt, pepper, garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, steak sauce, egg, and breadcrumbs.

  • Form patties: Shape the turkey mixture into oval-shaped patties.

  • Brown the patties: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and brown the patties for about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

  • Make the gravy: In the same skillet, melt butter and cook the onions and mushrooms until softened. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually add chicken broth, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens.

  • Simmer: Return the patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes, flipping occasionally, until the patties reach an internal temperature of 165°F.

  • Serve: Serve the turkey Salisbury steaks with mushroom gravy over mashed potatoes or your favorite side

Notes

  • For an herbaceous twist, add fresh thyme or rosemary to the gravy.

  • You can substitute the ground turkey with ground chicken or lean ground beef.

  • To make this dish gluten-free, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and check your broth for gluten content.

  • If the gravy is too thick, add more chicken broth to reach your desired consistency.
