Ingredients

  • 8 oz pasta (penne or spaghetti)
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (casings removed)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ¼ tsp salt (or to taste)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper (or to taste)
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausage, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  • Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Let simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
  • Toss in cooked pasta, mixing well to coat in the sticky sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Garnish with parsley and Parmesan (if using). Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Less Sweet? Reduce honey to 2 tbsp or add extra vinegar.
  • Protein Swap? Use ground turkey, chicken, or even shrimp.
  • Vegetarian? Substitute sausage with mushrooms or plant-based alternatives.
  • Gluten-Free? Use gluten-free pasta and tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Extra Veggies? Add bell peppers, zucchini, or spinach.
