Ingredients

4 boneless beef chuck roasts

18 ounces barbecue sauce

1 large onion, thinly sliced

½ cup water

½ teaspoon salt

18 slider rolls (such as Hawaiian Honey Wheat rolls)

Instructions

  • Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and cook the beef until crispy. Drain on paper towels.

  • Leave 2 tablespoons of beef drippings in the pan, add sliced onions and salt, and cook until tender.

  • Transfer onions to the bottom of a 6qt slow cooker.

  • Pour water into the pan, scraping up the browned bits. Add this mixture to the slow cooker.

  • Add the beef roasts and barbecue sauce to the slow cooker. Stir to combine.

  • Cook on low for 7-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.

  • Shred the beef with two forks and mix the sauce before serving.

Notes

  • You can use other cuts of beef like brisket or round roast if desired.

  • Make it spicier by adding chili flakes or hot sauce to the barbecue sauce.

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
