One-Pot Smoky Honey BBQ Steak Pasta combines tender, flavorful steak, hearty pasta, and a smoky-sweet barbecue sauce, all cooked in one skillet. It's a quick and delicious meal perfect for weeknight dinners and relaxing weekends.

Ingredients

1 lb flank steak or sirloin steak, thinly sliced

8 oz pasta (penne, fusilli, or farfalle work well)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 red bell pepper, sliced (optional)

1 cup beef broth

½ cup smoky BBQ sauce

2 tablespoons honey

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the sliced steak with smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Sear the steak in a single layer for 2–3 minutes per side, until browned but still slightly pink inside. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  2. Lower the heat to medium. In the same pan, add the diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes, until soft. Add the garlic and red bell pepper (if using) and cook for another 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add uncooked pasta, beef broth, BBQ sauce, and honey to the skillet. Stir and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Cover partially and simmer for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente and the sauce thickens.
  4. Return the steak and its juices to the skillet. Stir gently and simmer uncovered for 2–3 more minutes, until the steak is fully cooked and the flavors have combined.
  5. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. Serve hot, topped with chopped parsley, grated Parmesan, or red pepper flakes for an extra touch.

Notes

  • Vegetarian Option: Swap the steak for plant-based protein or mushrooms for a vegetarian version.
  • Heat Level: Add more crushed red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce if you like extra heat.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stove with a splash of beef broth or water, or microwave in intervals.
