Ingredients

  • 8 oz fettuccine or penne pasta
  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced thin
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha (or more for extra heat)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for added spice)
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  • Cook the Pasta:

    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine or penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
  • Sear the Steak:

    • In the same pot, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced flank steak in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove the steak from the pot and set aside.
  • Make the Sauce:

    • In the same pot, reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the honey, soy sauce, Sriracha, and chicken broth. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
  • Combine Everything:

    • Return the cooked pasta and steak to the pot. Toss everything together with the sauce, adding the reserved pasta water as needed to reach the desired consistency. Stir in the butter until melted and fully incorporated.
  • Serve:

    • Divide the pasta into bowls, garnish with sliced green onions and Parmesan cheese (optional), and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add more Sriracha or chili flakes.
  • You can substitute the flank steak with other cuts of beef, such as sirloin or ribeye.
  • If you prefer a vegetarian version, swap the steak for sautéed vegetables like bell peppers, zucchini, or mushrooms.
