These crispy, golden mozzarella fried cheese bites are a quick and easy snack made with just a few simple ingredients. Each bite is crunchy on the outside and melty on the inside—perfect for game day, family gatherings, or anytime snacking.

Ingredients

10 oz mozzarella string cheese (about 10 sticks)

1 cup Italian-style bread crumbs

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1/4 cup milk

Cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)

Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Slice each mozzarella stick into 3 or 4 even pieces for uniform sizes.
  2. Set up a dredging station with three bowls: one with flour, one with whisked eggs and milk, and one with bread crumbs (plus cayenne if using).
  3. Coat each mozzarella piece in flour, dip in egg mixture, then coat with bread crumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb steps for extra crunch.
  4. Place the coated bites on a plate and freeze for 15–20 minutes to prevent oozing during frying.
  5. Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry 5–7 bites at a time for about 30 seconds or until golden brown. Avoid overcrowding.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve immediately, optionally with warm marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Freeze bites before frying to keep cheese from leaking out.
  • Use string cheese for best frying results.
  • Repeat dredging for crispier bites.
  • Try different cheeses for variety.
  • Serve with marinara, ranch, or your favorite dip.
