Tender, juicy beef cubes slow-cooked in a crockpot with rich flavors, perfect for an effortless and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

2 lbs (900g) sirloin or chuck steak, cut into bite-sized cubes

2 tbsp olive oil (for optional searing)

3 cloves garlic, minced

¼ cup Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 cup beef broth

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Optional: 2 tbsp butter, sliced

Optional: Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat and cut the steak into 1–1.5 inch cubes.
  2. In a bowl, toss the beef cubes with minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the steak cubes for 2–3 minutes per side (optional) to enhance flavor.
  4. Transfer the seared beef to the bottom of the crockpot.
  5. Pour in Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and beef broth. Stir to combine.
  6. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours until the steak is tender.
  7. During the last 30 minutes, add butter and fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • To thicken the sauce, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 1 tbsp slow cooker juices and stir back in, cooking on HIGH for 30 minutes.
  • Stew meat can be used as a budget-friendly alternative to steak.
  • Searing is optional but adds extra flavor.
  • Pairs well with mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles, or roasted vegetables.
  • Add vegetables like mushrooms, carrots, or bell peppers in the last hour for extra nutrition.
  • Use gluten-free soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce to make the dish gluten-free.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated for 3–4 days or frozen for 2–3 months.
