8 oz (225g) linguine or spaghetti

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 lb (450g) lean ground beef

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced

¼ cup (60ml) low-sodium soy sauce

¼ cup (60ml) hoisin sauce

¼ cup (60ml) beef broth

2 tablespoons brown sugar

½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the Noodles: Boil salted water, cook noodles per package instructions until al dente, drain, and set aside.

  • Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk soy sauce, hoisin sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes.

  • Cook the Ground Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high. Add beef and brown, breaking it up. Drain excess fat.

  • Add Aromatics: Reduce heat to medium, then stir in garlic and ginger for 1 minute until fragrant.

  • Combine Sauce and Beef: Pour in the prepared sauce, stir, and simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.

  • Mix in the Noodles: Add the cooked noodles, tossing to coat with the beef and sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes.

  • Serve: Plate the noodles and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Customize heat with extra red pepper flakes or chili paste.

  • Add veggies like bell peppers or spinach for extra nutrition.

  • Use egg noodles or rice noodles for a different texture.
