Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup M&M candies (plus extra for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with both sugars until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and add the vanilla extract. Mix until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in 1 cup of M&Ms, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Press the cookie dough into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  8. Sprinkle extra M&Ms on top of the dough for a colorful finish.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares.

Notes

  • You can customize with different types of M&Ms or add-ins like chocolate chips, nuts, or sprinkles.

  • These bars freeze well, and you can store them in an airtight container for up to 5 days at room temperature.
  • Reheat in the microwave for 15-20 seconds for a warm, gooey treat.
