Mint Chocolate Chip Snowball Cookies are tender, buttery bite-sized treats filled with semi-sweet and mint chocolate chips, then dusted in powdered sugar. Their delicate crumb and refreshing minty flavor make them perfect for holidays or anytime you crave a cool chocolate indulgence.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup powdered sugar, plus extra for dusting

2 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup mint chocolate chips or crushed mint candies

1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Mix in vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in semi-sweet chocolate chips, mint chocolate chips (or crushed mint candies), and nuts if using.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and centers remain soft.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Dust generously with powdered sugar while still warm.
  9. Allow to cool completely before serving.

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • Freeze baked cookies for up to 2 months and thaw at room temperature before serving.
  • If using salted butter, reduce or omit the added salt.
