Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce

1 can (6 oz) tomato paste

1 tbsp dried oregano

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

1/2 cup ricotta cheese

1/2 cup sour cream

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

12 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained

1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until softened and fragrant.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, tomato paste, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer on low heat for 15–20 minutes.
  5. While the sauce simmers, combine the ricotta cheese, sour cream, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese in a mixing bowl.
  6. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set them aside.
  7. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  8. Layer cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by a layer of the cheese mixture.
  9. Repeat the process with the meat sauce, noodles, and cheese mixture until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.
  10. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil, sprinkle the top with extra mozzarella cheese, and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  12. Let the lasagna cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
