Ingredients

Cookies:

  • ½ cup butter (softened)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

Maple Icing:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1-2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prep

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Make the Dough

    • In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients

    • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and cinnamon.
    • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until fully incorporated.
  • Shape & Bake

    • Scoop dough into 1-inch balls, place on a baking sheet, and flatten slightly.
    • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
    • Let cookies cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Prepare the Maple Icing

    • In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth.
    • Adjust consistency by adding more milk (thinner) or more powdered sugar (thicker).
  • Glaze & Serve

    • Drizzle or spread the icing over cooled cookies. Let it set before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, mix chopped pecans into the dough.
  • For a thicker glaze, add more powdered sugar.
  • For chewier cookies, bake on the shorter end of the time range.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days, or freeze for later!
