A light and refreshing dessert that combines the fluffy texture of angel food cake with sweet, vibrant strawberries and whipped cream.

Ingredients

1 angel food cake (store-bought or homemade)

2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

1/4 cup sugar

1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberries: In a bowl, combine the sliced strawberries with sugar. Toss to coat and set aside for about 15 minutes to allow the strawberries to release their juices.
  2. Whip the Cream: In a separate bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  3. Assemble the Cake: Slice the angel food cake into even layers. Place the first layer on a serving dish and spread a generous amount of whipped cream over it. Top with some of the macerated strawberries.
  4. Layer and Repeat: Continue layering the cake, whipped cream, and strawberries until all the ingredients are used up.
  5. Chill: Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
  6. Serve: Cut the cake into slices and serve chilled.

Notes

  • For a mixed berry version, add blueberries or raspberries.
  • Add lemon zest to the whipped cream for a citrusy twist.
  • For extra indulgence, drizzle melted chocolate on top.
