Ingredients

½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

¾ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup brown sugar

2 large eggs, room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¾ cup all-purpose flour

¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon baking powder

½ cup whole milk

½ cup chocolate chunks (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine melted butter and chocolate chips. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth. Stir in the melted chocolate mixture until fully combined.
  4. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Fold gently into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Stir in milk until batter is smooth. Fold in chocolate chunks if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50–55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Let the bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
