Ingredients

17.3 ounces frozen puff pastry (1 box, 2 sheets)

6 ounces cream cheese

⅓ cup granulated sugar

1½ teaspoons vanilla extract or 3 tablespoons bourbon

21 ounces cherry pie filling

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment or a silicone mat.

  • Cut each sheet of puff pastry into 4 squares (8 total).

  • Slice from each corner of the square towards the center, stopping ½ inch from center.

  • In a bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla (or bourbon) until smooth.

  • Spoon a teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each square.

  • Top with a small spoonful of cherry pie filling.

  • Fold every other corner towards the center and gently press to seal.

  • Repeat with remaining pastries.

  • Bake for 12 minutes, or until golden and puffy.

  • Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use bourbon instead of vanilla.

  • Substitute cherry pie filling with blueberry, apple, or strawberry for variety.

  • Add sliced almonds before baking for texture.

  • Replace powdered sugar with a glaze drizzle for a glossy finish.

  • Best served fresh, but can be reheated in the oven to restore crispness.
