Yogurt Marinated Chicken is a flavorful and tender dish, with a creamy, tangy marinade that makes the chicken juicy and delicious. It’s versatile, allowing for grilling, roasting, or skillet cooking.

Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs

1 cup plain yogurt (preferably Greek yogurt)

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon ground coriander

1 teaspoon paprika

½ teaspoon ground turmeric

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yogurt, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Whisk until all ingredients are well incorporated into a smooth marinade.
  2. Add the chicken breasts or thighs to the bowl, making sure they are fully coated in the marinade. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to overnight for maximum flavor.
  3. Preheat your grill, oven, or skillet to medium-high heat. If grilling or roasting, make sure the grill or oven is properly heated to avoid sticking.
  4. Cook the chicken for 6-8 minutes per side (depending on thickness) or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). If cooking in a skillet, cook until the chicken is golden and the juices run clear.
  5. Remove the chicken from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh cilantro, if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a spicy version, add a teaspoon of chili powder or cayenne pepper to the marinade.
  • Substitute the chicken with firm tofu or paneer for a vegetarian option.
  • For a citrus twist, add a bit of orange or lime zest to the marinade.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.
  • Reheat in the microwave, skillet, or oven wrapped in foil to prevent drying out.
