Delicious deep-fried wonton bites filled with creamy strawberry cheesecake, offering a perfect balance of crispy exterior and gooey, fruity center.

Ingredients

8 oz cream cheese, softened

¼ cup powdered sugar

½ tsp vanilla extract

¼ cup strawberry jam or preserves

Fresh strawberries, diced (optional)

20-24 wonton wrappers

Water, for sealing edges

Vegetable oil, for frying

Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Extra strawberry jam or sauce (optional, for serving)

Fresh strawberries, sliced (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Fold in strawberry jam and diced strawberries if using.
  2. Lay out wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place about 1 teaspoon of cheesecake filling in the center of each wrapper.
  3. Lightly wet the edges of each wrapper with water. Fold into a triangle and press edges firmly to seal. Optionally fold corners inward to create a purse shape.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Test oil readiness by dropping a small wonton piece; it should bubble and float.
  5. Fry wontons in batches, 4-5 at a time, for about 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve warm with whipped cream, extra strawberry jam, and fresh strawberry slices if desired.

Notes

  • For a lighter option, bake filled wontons at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes instead of frying.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes to maintain crispness.
  • Can substitute other fruits like blueberries, raspberries, or peaches in the filling.
  • Freeze un-fried wontons and fry from frozen, adding extra frying time.
  • Try drizzling melted chocolate over fried wontons for extra indulgence.
