Delightfully crispy and naturally sweet banana chips, lightly coated with cinnamon and sugar, made in the air fryer for a quick and healthy snack.

Ingredients

2 firm bananas (slightly underripe)

1 tablespoon coconut oil or melted butter

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 300°F (150°C) for 5 minutes.
  2. Peel the bananas and slice them into ⅛-inch-thick rounds.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the sugar and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  4. Gently toss the banana slices with the melted coconut oil or butter, ensuring each piece is lightly coated.
  5. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the coated banana slices, tossing gently to ensure even coverage.
  6. Arrange the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap. You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  7. Air fry the banana slices for 15 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. Monitor closely to prevent burning.
  8. Once golden brown and crisp, remove the banana chips from the air fryer and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.

Notes

  • Spiced Flavor: Add a pinch of nutmeg or pumpkin spice for extra warmth.
  • Savory Twist: Skip the sugar and sprinkle with a bit of sea salt and paprika.
  • Chocolate Drizzle: Once cooled, drizzle melted dark chocolate over the chips.
  • Nutty Crunch: Toss with crushed nuts before air frying for added texture.
  • Sugar-Free Option: Use a sugar substitute like stevia for a low-sugar version.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the air fryer at 300°F for 2-3 minutes to regain crispiness.
  • Freezing not recommended, as they may become too soft when thawed.
