Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and position a rack in the center.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • Using a mixer, beat together butter and sugar. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until fully incorporated.
  • Divide dough in two and roll out on a floured surface to ¼-inch thickness. Cut out desired shapes with a cookie cutter.
  • Place cookies on a lined baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes or until edges are golden.
  • Cool on a wire rack.
