1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/3 cup milk

1 egg

1 small onion, finely diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)

1 (28 oz) bag frozen tater tots

1/2 cup ketchup (plus more for topping, optional)

Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, and ketchup. Mix well.
  3. Press the meat mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the meat mixture.
  5. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until the meat is fully cooked and the tater tots are golden brown.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheese over the baked tots and return to the oven for 5–7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley if desired.
