Ingredients

  • 2 cups broccoli florets, steamed and chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Steam the broccoli until tender, then chop it finely after cooling.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped broccoli, shredded cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, beaten egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well until evenly mixed.
  • Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
  • Arrange the balls on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  • Let the broccoli cheese balls cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Add variety by experimenting with different cheeses like mozzarella or gouda.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute breadcrumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs or crushed gluten-free crackers.
  • Try adding a bit of heat with red pepper flakes or hot sauce for a spicy twist.
  • For a vegan option, replace the egg with a flax egg and use dairy-free cheese.
