Apple Pie Tacos are a fun and creative twist on a classic apple pie. With crispy taco shells filled with cinnamon-sugar-coated apples, this dessert is a crowd-pleasing treat that is both delicious and easy to make.

Ingredients

4 flour tortillas

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp sugar

1 tbsp cinnamon

3 cups peeled and diced apples (about 3 apples)

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp cornstarch

1/4 cup water

1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Brush the tortillas with melted butter and sprinkle both sides with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  4. Shape the tortillas into taco shells by draping them over the rungs of an oven-safe rack or in a muffin tin. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the shells are golden and crispy.
  5. While the taco shells bake, prepare the apple filling. In a medium saucepan, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, cornstarch, water, and salt.
  6. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the apples soften and the sauce thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
  7. Once the taco shells have cooled slightly, fill them with the apple mixture.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings, such as whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Notes

  • These tacos are best enjoyed fresh, but you can store the taco shells and apple filling separately for up to 2 and 3 days, respectively.
  • If you prefer a different fruit, you can swap apples for pears or peaches.
  • Adding crushed nuts like pecans or walnuts to the apple filling adds extra crunch and flavor.
  • If you like extra cinnamon sugar, add a cinnamon-sugar coating to the outside of the tacos before baking.
  • For extra crispiness, brush the tortillas with more butter or fry them in oil.
