Apple Fritter Bread is a delicious and easy-to-make loaf that combines the flavors of cinnamon, apples, and a sweet glaze. Enjoy the comfort of a classic apple fritter without frying, perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a cozy snack!

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples (choose your favorite variety)

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 2-3 teaspoons milk or cream (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

  2. In a small bowl, mix the light brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.

  3. In a larger mixing bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and butter until light and fluffy.

  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

  6. Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Add half of the chopped apples and sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.

  7. Pour the remaining batter over the apples, then top with the remaining apples and cinnamon-sugar. Gently press the apples into the batter.

  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, cover loosely with foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.

  9. Cool the bread in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  10. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with 2-3 teaspoons of milk/cream until it reaches a drizzle-friendly consistency. Drizzle over the cooled bread.

Notes

  • You can add 1/2 cup of chopped nuts for extra flavor.

  • Substitute apples with pears or peaches for variety.

  • For a healthier version, opt for whole wheat flour or reduce the sugar.

  • Store at room temperature for 3-4 days or refrigerate for up to a week. You can freeze the bread for up to 3 months.
