Ingredients

For the Topping:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)

For the Filling:

6-8 apples (Granny Smith or your favorite variety)

3/4 cup sugar (granulated or a mix of granulated and brown sugar)

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp cornstarch or all-purpose flour (for thickening)

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • In a medium bowl, mix all the ingredients for the topping until they form a crumbly texture. Set aside.

  • For the filling, peel, core, and slice the apples into bite-sized pieces. Toss them with sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch (or flour), salt, and cinnamon.

  • Place the apple mixture in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Evenly spread the crumble topping over the apples.

  • Bake for 45–50 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.

  • Let the crumble cool slightly before serving. Serve with vanilla ice cream or homemade caramel sauce for extra indulgence.

Notes

  • Apple Variety: Granny Smith apples are recommended for their tartness, but any variety like Honeycrisp or Fuji will work well.

  • Topping Variations: Add rolled oats for extra crunch or experiment with adding chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts.

  • Spices: Feel free to enhance the flavor by adding a pinch of nutmeg or allspice to the filling.
