These Air Fryer Churros are golden and crisp on the outside with a soft, tender center. Coated in cinnamon sugar, they deliver classic churro flavor without deep frying.

Ingredients

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup whole milk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into tablespoons

1 tablespoon sugar

1 cup flour

3 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, bring water, milk, butter, and 1 tablespoon sugar to a low boil, stirring frequently. Simmer gently for about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and quickly stir in the flour with a wooden spoon until fully incorporated and a smooth dough ball forms. If needed, return to low heat briefly while stirring constantly.
  3. Transfer dough to a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, or use a large bowl with an electric mixer. Beat until slightly cooled and fluffy.
  4. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition and scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
  7. Fit a pastry bag with a #1M open star tip and fill with dough.
  8. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  9. Pipe 3 to 4 inch logs into the basket, cutting ends with scissors and avoiding overcrowding.
  10. Lightly spray tops with cooking spray and cook at 375°F for 6 to 8 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  11. In a medium bowl, combine granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  12. Immediately toss warm churros in cinnamon sugar and transfer to a wire rack. Serve warm.

Notes

For chocolate-filled churros, pipe a thin line of chocolate spread into the center before cooking.

Add a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom to the cinnamon sugar for extra warmth.

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.

Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 2 to 3 minutes to restore crispness.

Freeze cooled churros in a single layer, then transfer to a freezer-safe container and reheat from frozen in the air fryer.
