This rich and creamy fettuccine Alfredo is a classic comfort food made with a velvety sauce of butter, heavy cream, and cheeses, perfect for weeknights or special occasions.

Ingredients

Fettuccine pasta

2 sticks of butter

1 cup heavy cream

Salt

Pepper

Garlic salt

1/2 cup Romano cheese, grated

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine and cook according to package instructions, about 10 minutes. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  2. While the pasta cooks, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add heavy cream, salt, pepper, and garlic salt, stirring to combine and simmer gently.
  3. Stir in the grated Romano and Parmesan cheeses until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  4. Add the cooked fettuccine to the sauce and toss to coat. Gradually add reserved pasta water, a tablespoon at a time, until the sauce reaches the desired consistency.
  5. Serve immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

  • Add protein like grilled chicken or shrimp for a heartier meal.
  • For a vegetarian version, substitute sautéed mushrooms or spinach for meat.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy twist.
  • For a low-carb version, try zucchini noodles or another pasta alternative.
  • Leftovers can be stored for up to 3 days in the fridge. Reheat gently with extra cream or milk.
