Ingredients

¾ cup all-purpose flour

⅔ cup granulated sugar

½ teaspoon salt

5 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 medium apples, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add the eggs to the mixture and whisk until smooth.
  3. Pour in the whole milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Stir until fully combined.
  4. Cover the bowl and chill the batter for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  6. Line a 7.5-inch round pan with parchment paper.
  7. Stir the batter once more before pouring it into the prepared pan.
  8. Arrange the thinly sliced apples on top of the custard mixture.
  9. Bake the pie for 45–50 minutes or until the custard is set.
  10. Allow the pie to cool in the pan for 15–20 minutes before transferring it to a cooling rack.
  11. Chill the pie completely before slicing to get the best texture and flavor.
