Banana bread is the epitome of comfort baking. Its golden crust, tender texture, and sweet banana flavor make it a go-to treat for almost any occasion.

Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup butter, melted

3/4 cup sugar

1 egg, beaten

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking soda

Pinch of salt

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas with a fork until smooth. Stir in the melted butter.
  3. Mix in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and stir to incorporate.
  5. Gently fold in the flour until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. If desired, stir in the walnuts or chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • To store your banana bread, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or place it in an airtight container. It will stay fresh for about 3-4 days at room temperature or up to a week in the refrigerator.
  • You can freeze individual slices wrapped in plastic wrap and stored in a freezer bag for up to 3 months.
  • For a healthier option, swap sugar for honey or maple syrup, and use whole wheat flour.
  • For a vegan version, use a flax egg and plant-based butter or coconut oil.
