These cheesy breadsticks made from pizza dough are soft, buttery, and loaded with gooey melted mozzarella. Brushed with garlic butter and baked until golden brown, they are perfect as a side dish, appetizer, or snack.
1 lb store-bought or homemade pizza dough
2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon garlic powder or 2 minced garlic cloves
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning blend or dried basil
1 and 3/4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Optional: sprinkle of cornmeal for dusting the pan
Optional: marinara or pizza sauce for dipping
Substitute part of the mozzarella with cheddar, provolone, or Monterey Jack for added flavor.
Add red pepper flakes to the butter mixture for a spicy version.
Fold the dough over the cheese before baking to create stuffed breadsticks.
Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley or basil on top after baking for a fresh finish.
Add grated Parmesan during the last 5 minutes of baking for extra flavor.
Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Reheat in a 350°F (177°C) oven for 5 to 8 minutes or microwave for 20 to 30 seconds.
Freeze baked and cooled breadsticks tightly wrapped for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
