Breakfast Sausage Crescent Rolls are a quick and delicious morning treat, filled with seasoned sausage, creamy cheese, and buttery crescent dough. They're perfect for busy mornings, brunch gatherings, or a hearty snack.

Ingredients

1 lb breakfast sausage

2 tubes crescent roll dough

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese blend)

1/4 cup cream cheese, softened

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 egg, beaten (for brushing, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess grease and let it cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, mix the cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, cream cheese, garlic powder, and black pepper until well combined.
  4. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture on the wide end of each triangle. Roll up the dough around the filling and place on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.
  5. Brush the tops of the crescent rolls with the beaten egg for a golden, shiny finish.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and fully cooked.
  7. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, mustard, or a creamy breakfast gravy.

Notes

  • Vegetarian Option: Replace the breakfast sausage with a plant-based sausage or finely chopped vegetables like mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions for a vegetarian-friendly version.
  • Cheese Options: Swap out cheddar for other cheeses like mozzarella, pepper jack, or even a cheese blend for different flavors.
  • Spicy Sausage: Add some heat by using spicy breakfast sausage or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the filling.
  • Storage: Leftover sausage crescent rolls can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5–7 minutes or until warmed through. Alternatively, you can microwave them for about 30-45 seconds if you're in a hurry.
